Sensei Delina Fuchs, CMT is President of the Board of Directors and School Head of Chico Kodenkan, whose history goes back to 1939 as the Chico Judo and Jujitsu Academy.
She began her practice of Danzan Ryu (or Kodenkan) Jujitsu January 7, 1978 in Sensei Richard Radcliffe's children's classes. She was also fortunate enough to attend weekly adult classes with Sensei Radcliffe and the late Professor "Bud" Estes at the old Broadway, downtown Chico Kodenkan location until Professor's death on June 7, 1981. She continued her studies of jujitsu, massage, and jo (4-foot staff) with Sensei Radcliffe, adding Musoshinden Ryu Iaido (literally, "Traditional Spiritual Vision System" of Japanese sword drawing) in 1987. She currently holds an AJJF 4th degree black belt.
Sensei Delina has been practicing Okazaki Restorative Massage since 1987 and earned her certification from the AJJF Danzan Ryu Seifukujitsu Institute in 1993. She also earned numerous Shiatsu massage certificates from Michael Turk LAc, director of the East/West Health Center.
Upon completion of the 2003 Okugi "Special Class," held only three times in Danzan Ryu history, she was awarded the rare and coveted Kaidensho (Master Teaching Certificate) and title of Kyoshi (Master Teacher).
Sensei Delina earned her Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education and Masters in English from CSU, Chico. She teaches in the English and Physical Education Departments at Butte College and the English Department at CSU, Chico. She is also an AAU Jujitsu National Champion.
