- Know and practice the Esoteric Principles of Danzan Ryu.
- All students should formally address all back belts as Sensei and show them respect as well as to fellow students.
- Students will make no correction/s or instruct other students without specific instructions and permission from Sensei.
- During actual class period, practice only what the Sensei teaches.
- In absence of a Sensei, the senior student will take charge, and all others will practice as they direct. Sensei may also designate a student to take charge, and all others will practice as they direct.
- If a student wishes to visit another dojo, please talk to [both your Head Sensei and the other dojo's] Sensei each time you visit.
- Students involved in the use of martial arts in a self-defense situation please come talk to Head Sensei. We can be a character witness for you if you are not the aggressor. Under no circumstance should a jujitsuka be the aggressor, if so they will face suspension or dismissal.
- All students should be on mat prior to start of class. Latecomers must obtain special permission to join in the class [wait for Sensei to bow you onto mat].
- No one is allowed on the mat other than those belonging to that class unless special permission is obtained.
- All payments are to be paid promptly, when due. If students are having difficulties in paying dues, talk to Head Sensei.
- Rei (bow) entering and leaving the dojo. Rei before entering and upon leaving the mat. Rei when two students practice together. Rei means courtesy, and it is the act of bowing.
- Report to Sensei if it is unwise for you to work strenuously.
- No talking during class except for brief communication essential to working together and of asking of questions that pertain to matter at hand. Voices should be kept to a whisper.
- No Shoes on mat.
- Gis should be kept clean and held in place by obi of proper color and markings. If obi becomes undone during practice, students should face opposite directions from partner and secure obi. Socks are optional.
- Cleanliness should be practiced by all.
- No jewelry should be worn that would be detrimental to you or your fellow students.
- Students will not chew gum or any other foods during class.
- All students will observe protocol by allowing senior students first art.
- No challenging of senior students, as this is insulting and a breech of protocol.
- Students should be serious and concentrate on techniques being taught.
- At no time should students participate in horseplay in the dojo.
- Randori is permitted after adult class with consent of both jujitsuka.
- Students may ask Sensei to randori after class.
- No kicking or punching the walls.
- The use of profanity in and during class is improper.
- Any student intoxicated is not allowed in class. Students are not allowed on the mat while under the influence of hallucinogenic drugs. Infraction of this rule may lead to dismissal.
- Smoking is not permitted during classes or in the dojo.
- A notebook is to be kept up to date with all materials covered. Sensei will ask to see notebook from time to time, please have it available.
- Visiting jujitsuka will follow all Chico Kodenkan Dojo Rules.
